Global Status of CCS Report Launch Events

The Global CCS Institute is delighted to invite you to join us for the launch of the Global Status of CCS 2022 Report. The flagship Status Report provides a comprehensive overview of the progress of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology over the last year, including newly released numbers of CCS facilities in operation and under development. Join us online at a launch event in your time zone on 17/18 October.

Repositioning CCUS for China’s Net-Zero Future

China has committed to reach carbon neutrality by 2060 and CCUS is regarded as an essential pillar to address climate change. This progress review outlines the prospect of CCUS in China and examines the status of carbon targets, as well as the trends and challenges for CCUS. The brief also takes a look at the push across low-carbon industrial transformation, and the potential role for international cooperation, as it relates to accelerating CCS deployment.

Perspective: India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme – a New Beginning

In August 2022, the Lower House of India's Parliament passed a bill amending an earlier Energy Conservation Law and calling for the establishment of a domestic carbon credit trading scheme. In this new perspective, we take a closer look at the amendment and assess where CCS fits in India's agenda to reduce emissions and meet climate commitments.

Multimedia: New CCS Explainer Video

With a global ambition to reach net-zero by 2050, carbon capture and storage (CCS) has emerged as an indispensable climate solution to significantly reduce emissions from energy intensive sectors and support climate goals. This newly released explainer video provides a high-level overview on how CCS works and why the technology is needed to support the net-zero transition.

Commentary: Economics of Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage

In July 2022, the Institute released a thought leadership report exploring the economics of DACCS and how its deployment might affect the global energy system. This new commentary, authored by Dr. Julio Friedmann, Chief Scientist at Carbon Direct and Distinguished Fellow at the Global CCS Institute, unpacks the key findings of the report.
